Meet Omer

Omer Wenkert, a 22-year-old, the eldest son of Niva and Shai, with an 18-year-old brother named Ran and a 13-year-old sister
named Maya. Joyous and social, Omer’s life has been filled with a multitude of circles of friends that he has developed through
the years. In the third grade, Omer joined the youth movement “Young Maccabi”.
Throughout his time there, Omer became a significant instructor, dedicating his time and passion to the Gedera branch. Through
his volunteering activities there, Omer emphasized his commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
Omer’s profound love for the culinary arts is where his heart truly belongs. In his professional life, Omer holds the position of
  manager at “Nina Bianca,” a prestigious restaurant owned by a renowned chef. He has gained significant recognition in this role.
His ultimate aspiration is to pursue a career as a restaurant critic, aiming to spread his profound affection for fine dining with a
global audience. Omer is eagerly looking forward to an upcoming restaurant business course scheduled to begin in November at
“Shenkar” college.
The extensive network of friends Omer has attests to his special personality, charisma and love of people. His joy
and enthusiasm for life is contagious. Omer is a young innocent civilian, who came to a music festival to enjoy life and spend time
with his friends.

Last Contact with Omer

Niva and Shai, Omer's parents, woke up to the familiar but distressing sounds of missile alarms as Hamas launched missiles towards innocent Israeli civilians. Fearing for their son's safety, they immediately called Omer. Omer, who had been attending the Reim Nova Music Festival, informed them of Hamas storming the party and that he is hiding. Omer’s last text message ended with “I am scared to death”.

Hamas Releases the Abduction Video

On Telegram, Hamas released a video showing Omer forcibly taken beaten loaded into an SUV by the Hamas’s Nukba and placed near the bodies of two terrorists.

Hamas' Denial of Red Cross Appeal Puts Omer's Health at Risk

It is imperative that Hamas adhere to the Geneva Convention's
humanitarian provisions, which require the treatment of
hostages in a humane manner in this grave situation. Omer must
receive immediate medical assistance and not be injured.
Without his medication, Omer faces life-threatening
complications, such as internal bleeding and infection, due to his
chronic Colitis.
